P&O Irish Sea’s highly popular Superstar Express has made a welcome return to Larne in preparation for the 2004 spring/summer season.
Commencing on 8th April, Superstar Express will recommence the Larne-Troon fast-ferry service along with the record-breaking Larne-Cairnryan service.
James Esler, Sales and Marketing Manager, P&O Irish Sea explains: "Our Larne-Troon service which was first introduced last year with a crossing time of under 2 hours, had a very successful first season and we are delighted to retain the service for 2004. The speed of the service, which is 40 minutes faster than any other operator from Northern Ireland to Troon, is a key factor in our success as is the undisputed reliability of our vessel."
Superstar Express has undergone a number of changes including a complete refurbishment of the Club Class Lounge. Mr Esler comments, "Club Class is our exclusive lounge where customers can avail of our dedicated steward service and enjoy complimentary tea/coffee and a range of daily newspapers and magazines. During the winter, we have taken the opportunity to redesign the area to further enhance the experience and enjoyment for our customers. We have also introduced another light refreshment outlet – the Coffee and Choc Dock, offering a range of rich, luxurious coffees and locally made Fosters chocolate."
Complementing the excellent Superstar Express on the Larne-Cairnryan route is European Highlander and European Causeway, P&O Irish Sea’s £80m superferries. With crossing times of 1 hour 45minutes and operating a year-round service, these conventional vessels match the crossing times of other high-speed vessels sailing between Scotland and Ireland.
P&O Irish Sea has an undisputed reputation for offering the fastest and most reliable crossings between Ireland and Britain. Mr Graham McCullough, General Manager, Scottish Routes, "As the only ferry operator offering two routes between Ireland and Scotland, P&O Irish Sea give customers more choice and flexibility. With the new fast ferry service from Larne to Troon complementing Larne-Cairnryan, customers have a choice of up to 22 sailings per day, a choice of fast or super ferry and a choice of two ports in Scotland. Customers can travel out via one route and return via another, choose a fast ferry or a conventional ship and crossing times from as fast as just one hour. The flexibility of the P&O Irish Sea Scottish service is unrivalled by any other operator."
